Artists
In the
summer of 2008, the Golden Urban Renewal Authority
began a program of highlighting the work of local
artists by hanging large reproductions of their work
on downtown buildings.
Gateway
Station
The
$18 million Gateway Station project, which received a
$1.25 million grant from GURA, is a new mixed-use
development at 13th and Washington with underground
parking, 35 luxury residences, and more than 20,000
square feet for shops, offices and restaurants.
Gateway Station is the successful culmination of over
two decades of efforts to redevelop this corner.

The
former 95-space parking lot on Jackson between 13th
and 12th has been replaced by a 268-space, GURA-funded
free public parking garage. Development on the
adjacent parcels to the north and south of the garage
will occur at some point in the future. Construction
of the garage, acquisition of the land, and necessary
environmental remediation required over $1 million.
Demolition
of the Hesteds and Home Imports building kicked off
with a public celebration on August 12, 2006, and
continued through mid-September. A crowd gathered to
watch as the bricks came tumbling down. The project is
nearing completion almost two years later.
Prior
to the demolition, GURA and NexCore worked closely
with a historic preservation consultant to salvage as
much of the original façade of the 100 year old
building as feasible. The elements and bricks that
could be re-used were disassembled by hand and
preserved for use in re-construction of the Linder
building facade. More

Millstone Condominiums
This
much-anticipated condominium project by Sovereign Homes
of Colorado has added new vitality to downtown Golden
with 78 residential units. Located along Clear Creek on
11th between Washington and Ford, Millstone includes
three 4-story loft-style buildings with parking.
Millstone
at Clear Creek Square is part of a mixed-use development
project. As early partners, the Golden Civic Foundation
conveyed the land to GURA. GURA then contributed the
land, partial funding and design work for the 5.5-acre
project that also includes the three-story Clear Creek
Square office building, the two-story Jackson Court
office building, and a 315-space parking garage. More

Jackson
Court
After
breaking ground in March, 2006, redevelopment of the vacant lot adjacent
to the parking garage on Jackson and 12th Streets was completed in
August, 2006. The result is an attractive two-story office and retail
building that bridges the gap between the Clear Creek Square office
building and Washington Avenue. The owners moved their 11-person firm,
Studio DH Architecture, from LODO to the second floor of its new
owner-occupied building, joining Golden’s thriving downtown community.
Office and retail space is available for lease.
Jackson
Court was the final piece of the four-phase Clear Creek Square project.
GURA contributed the land, $137,000 in site improvements, and parking to
enable the project to move forward. More
