Golden Urban Renewal Authority

Guidelines for Grants and Community Event Support

8/3/04

The Golden Urban Renewal Authority is directed by statute to undertake projects for the elimination and for the prevention of the development or spread of slums and blight. While this direction emphasizes projects of a physical nature, GURA recognizes that the general efforts of civic, merchant, and charitable organizations are a necessary complement to its mission and to the overall social and economic vitality of downtown Golden.

GURA may directly support specific projects of such organizations provided those projects benefit the GURA District and: (1) are of a physical nature and can be funded through tax increment financing; (2) are of a physical nature and located in the public right of way; (3) are necessary for public health and safety or otherwise required by law; or (4) are of a physical nature and for a public purpose.

Specific projects selected by GURA that are not of a physical nature shall be supported through the Reinvestment Fund.

GURA may contribute financial support for general operations of such organizations according to the following guidelines:

  1. The organization will use GURA's financial support for the benefit of the GURA District.
  2. The organization requesting a financial support should submit its request to GURA during its annual budget process of each calendar year.
  3. Such requests, if approved, may be incorporated into the Reinvestment Fund and administered according to GURA Resolution #50.
  4. Such requests for financial support must not exceed $250.
